Hi, I'm Ashley!

I am an end-of-life planner and the creator of Ebb + Flow. My goal is to reclaim autonomy in death and grief, allowing each person to make the decisions that are best for them - free of misinformation, outside pressure, and systemic barriers.

Death work has been a part of my world for many years but my role in it became more clear when my dad died in 2016. His death was sudden and it left my family struggling with decisions we weren't sure how to make. The confusion of it all led me to learn more about the ways we handle death and grief in the United States. I also learned that my family's experience was not uncommon and that I wanted to do something about it.

Ebb + Flow comes from my own personal coping mechanism for death anxiety - nature. All things are cyclical. Death is natural and normal. The phases of the moon, the seasons, the tides. This is where I find comfort when contemplating my own mortality. I hope I can guide you toward your own source of comfort, to a place where death is a little less scary.

A Note About End-of-Life Education

There is no governing body which dictates education or certification requirements for
death doulas or end-of-life planners.
I choose the training programs and continuing education that align with my values and the offerings that I wish to provide to my clients.
If you have questions about my experience, please feel free to ask. If there is a program or course that you feel I would benefit from, I would love to hear about it!
